Thermal gloves can be made of one single material (aramid), combined materials or combined with metal protections on the external zones. Each of the materials these gloves are made of performs a different but complementary function.

• Made of one single material: to absorb as much heat as possible before reaching the hand.

• Made of two materials: the outer material to repel splashes and mechanical risks and the inner material to absorb as much heat as possible.

• And for more critical situations the outside is aluminized or metallized with micro-sheets and there are two inner layers one to repel convective heat and the other, nearest to the hand, with high heat absorbing capacity.

When very specific protection is required, as in the case of thermal risks, it is important to review three aspects in order to make the correct choice of thermal gloves.

1. EN 388 and EN 47 standards should be marked on the glove and appear on the information sheet.

2. Manufacture, materials and ergonomics.

3. Where and from what do we need to be protected, depending on:

• The temperature to be withstood.

• Exposure time.

• The weight of the part or the work tool to be handled.
